Welcome

Supporting You

Walsall Eyes has been supporting blind and partially sighted people in Walsall since 2001. We are a volunteer-led charity run by and for people with sight loss, offering practical support, shared experience and a welcoming community.

A key part of our work is Tea and Tech, our long-running technology support sessions. For more than 10 years these friendly sessions have helped people learn to use smartphones, tablets and other accessible technology in a relaxed and supportive setting. Many members have gained confidence, made lasting friendships and gone on to pursue education, volunteering and employment.

Over the years we have also run initiatives such as braille and large-print transcription services and helped people access assistive technology through equipment loan schemes. These projects have helped shape the organisation we are today and reflect our long-standing commitment to helping people adapt to sight loss and stay connected with the world around them.

Connecting You

Connection is at the heart of what we do. Through meetings, talks, social events and shared activities, we bring people with sight loss together so no one has to face things alone and everyone has the chance to build friendships and confidence.

We also work closely with organisations across the area, including Walsall Society for the Blind, Walsall Council’s Sensory Support Team, Walsall Council itself, local healthcare providers, schools and charities. By sharing lived experience and working in partnership, we help ensure that services in Walsall are more accessible and responsive to the needs of blind and partially sighted people.

Sad Death of Reg Cole

By Craig Bates | 12:09 PM BST, Sun July 27, 2025

We are very sad to share the news of the death of Reg Cole, one of our earliest and longest-standing members, who passed away on 9th July 2025 at the age of 86.

Reg was part of the group from its earliest days, when we were still growing and applying to become a charity. He worked for Age Concern and Walsall Council for many years and was an honest, forthright, and passionate advocate for the rights and advancement of people with a visual impairment.

Walsall Council to Introduce Weekly Food Waste Collections

By Craig Bates | 11:29 AM BST, Sun April 27, 2025

Walsall Council has approved plans to introduce weekly food waste collections for all households. Each home will receive a small kitchen caddy for everyday use and a larger kerbside caddy, which will be emptied once a week. For homes with communal bins, the service will work slightly differently, but collections will still take place weekly.
