Supporting You
Walsall Eyes has been supporting blind and partially sighted people in Walsall since 2001. We are a volunteer-led charity run by and for people with sight loss, offering practical support, shared experience and a welcoming community.
A key part of our work is Tea and Tech, our long-running technology support sessions. For more than 10 years these friendly sessions have helped people learn to use smartphones, tablets and other accessible technology in a relaxed and supportive setting. Many members have gained confidence, made lasting friendships and gone on to pursue education, volunteering and employment.
Over the years we have also run initiatives such as braille and large-print transcription services and helped people access assistive technology through equipment loan schemes. These projects have helped shape the organisation we are today and reflect our long-standing commitment to helping people adapt to sight loss and stay connected with the world around them.
Connecting You
Connection is at the heart of what we do. Through meetings, talks, social events and shared activities, we bring people with sight loss together so no one has to face things alone and everyone has the chance to build friendships and confidence.
We also work closely with organisations across the area, including Walsall Society for the Blind, Walsall Council’s Sensory Support Team, Walsall Council itself, local healthcare providers, schools and charities. By sharing lived experience and working in partnership, we help ensure that services in Walsall are more accessible and responsive to the needs of blind and partially sighted people.
